John Henry Norton, of Acton, formerly of Concord and Lincoln, died at Emerson Hospital on January 5, 2026 with his wife by his side, following a period of declining health. He was 87.

John was born in Boston on March 16, 1938 as the son of the late Dr. Paul and Margaret (Hegarty) Norton. He was raised in Lincoln and graduated from Concord High School. After attending Dean College, he proudly served in the United States Army for 3 years.

John's professional career at Polaroid Corporation spanned 35 years, prior to his retirement. He enjoyed following sports, especially Harvard football. A kind and thoughtful man, he had a love of reading history books and traveling.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Barbara (Delap) Norton, his daughter, Janet Norton of San Francisco, CA, two sisters, Martha Hill of Baltimore, MD and Catherine Duprez of Shrewsbury, MA, two brothers, Thomas Norton and his wife Linda of Sebago, ME and William Norton of Concord, NH, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Norton and his sister, Anne Norton.

A private graveside service will be held later this spring with military honors at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's honor may be made to the charity of one's choice.
