John Manzelli, Jr., 73, of South Yarmouth and formerly Concord, MA, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 in Hyannis. He was the beloved husband of 50 years of Marjorie (Cahill) Manzelli.
Born in Cambridge, MA on November 2, 1948, John was the son of the late John and Dorothy (LaTronica) Manzelli. He attended Lincoln schools and graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 1966. After graduating from Northeastern University in 1971, he married Marjorie and entered service in the U.S. Army. He earned his Master's degree from Northeastern University in 1972 and began work as a high school guidance counselor.
By 1980, John had embarked on a journey through software development and cell phone networking that culminated in the release of key products that revolutionized the technology of the 21st century.
John was an inventor at heart and a true Renaissance man, enjoying hobbies such as woodworking, guitar, and photography. He found joy in family and friends, always finding a moment to check in and share in their lives. John's kindness, generosity, and ready humor forged many lifelong friendships.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children: Elizabeth Phillips and her husband Daniel of Davis, CA; Philip Manzelli of Barnstable, MA; and Peter Manzelli and his wife Laura of Reading, MA; his grandchildren Julianna and Chloe Manzelli of Hudson, MA, and Matthew Slinn of Reading, MA; his sisters Jeanne Manzelli of Windsor, CT, and Donna Berube and her husband Paul of Watertown, MA. John is also survived by two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, three nieces, two nephews, many cousins, and more friends than he knew. He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will celebrate John's life during a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 142 Lincoln Road, Lincoln, MA, on Friday, July 1st at 10:30 am. At the family's request, masks are encouraged. Burial will follow at Lincoln Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his parents.
