John Manzelli, 96, of Lincoln died Wednesday February 22, 2012 in Concord. He was the beloved husband of 69 years of Dorothy (Latronica) Manzelli. Born in Cambridge on October 5, 1915 he was the son of the late Antonio and Carolina (Celozzi) Manzelli. He attended Cambridge schools. He was employed at the Gould Oil Co. in Cambridge. During World War II, Mr. Manzelli was as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force. A member of the 20th Air Force, he served as a flight engineer aboard B-29 airplanes. Following military service, in 1946, he became one of the founding partners of Auburn Oil and Heating Co. Inc., in Cambridge, retiring in 1977. A Lincoln resident since 1952, he served on many town committees and boards including Council on Aging, Bemis Hall Committee and the St. Joseph's Church Parish Council. He was a long time member and past master of the Lincoln Grange. He also taught several classes as a volunteer with the Lincoln Council on Aging. In 2009, Mr. Manzelli received the Distinguished Volunteer Award from the National Archives in Waltham, in recognition of his volunteer service. He was the father of Jeanne Manzelli of Windsor, CT, John Manzelli Jr. and his wife Marjorie of Concord and Donna Berube and her husband Paul of Watertown, grandfather of Jordan Roiz Polon and her husband John Roiz and their daughter Eleanor Roiz, all of Windsor, CT. David Polon of Los Angeles, CA, Elizabeth Phillips and her husband Daniel of Davis, CA, Philip Manzelli and his wife Kara of Marlborough and Peter Manzelli of Concord, brother of the late Martin, Louis and Michael Manzelli, Angela Sagese and Mary Latronica and brother-in-law of Phyllis Dunlap of Watertown and the late Fred Dunlap.
