John A. Long Jr., age 83, of Watertown, died at CareOne at Concord on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, following a long illness. Born in Brighton on January 24, 1936, he was the beloved son of the late John A. Long Sr. and Celia (Sampson) Long. A Watertown native, John graduated from the town's high school in 1954. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until 1960, when he was discharged as Private First Class. John will be remembered as an avid sports fan. He long enjoyed his season tickets with the New England Patriots. He leaves behind two sisters, Joan McDade and her late husband Paul of Concord and Jeanne Geoffrion and her husband Richard of Mahwah, NJ, along with his nieces and nephews, Sean and Lauren McDade, Rick and Michele Martin, and several great nieces and nephews. He was also the uncle of the late Scott Geoffrion. Family and friends will gather for a period of visitation on Friday, June 7th from 11 am to 12 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Watertown, where Officers of the U.S. Army will present military honors. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
