John Gordon Kilpatrick, Jr. of Wayland, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his cherished wife of 61 years, Phyllis A. Montminy and children John G. Kilpatrick III (Michelle), Karen Rudden (Fritz), Kim Ashline (Jim), Kristen Kilpatrick and Rick Kilpatrick. He was the proud and adoring "Papa" to his 19 grandchildren: Cassie (Brandon), Kyle (MaryKate), Alex, J.P., Jessica, Brooke, Meg, Sam, Hank, Jack (IV), Max, Matthew, Harry, Luke, Lydia, Charlie, Lincoln, Helena, and Quinn. He leaves his dear sister, Marilyn Gallagher, and her late husband, Hugh, as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.
He attended Phillips Exeter Academy, Harvard College, Harvard Law School and proudly served his country in the US Navy. He practiced law for many years and later continued his career in banking.
Gordon loved spending time outdoors, especially skiing & hiking in the White Mountains and at the ocean on Cape Cod. In his retirement he discovered his talent and love for watercolor painting. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid Boston sports fan. He loved golfing with his long-time "foursome" and took pride in his landscaping and gardening. His passion was spending time with his grandchildren and was involved in all aspects of their lives. Papa will forever be their biggest fan.
