John E. Jones, Jr. of Acton, formerly of Concord, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2015, surrounded by his wife and five children. Beloved husband of 62 years of Norma M. (Bond) Jones. Proud father of Deborah K. Galvin and her husband Timothy of Jacksonville, FL, John E. "Jack" Jones III and his wife Sandra, Keith D. Jones and his wife Linda, Nancy L. Cusato and Stephanie K. Parry and her husband David all of Acton. Loving grandfather of Emily, John "Jack" IV and Megan Jones, Alexander and Annalise Jones, Danielle and Michael Cusato, Lyndsey, Kristen and Sarah Parry all of Acton. Dear son of the late John E. Jones, Sr. and Elizabeth (Bowser) Jones. Brother of Laurie Jones, the late Ronald Jones and Doris (Jones) Kimball.
Mr. Jones was born on February 8, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in Cambridge where he attended school. John and Norma married in 1953. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean Conflict. The couple moved to Belmont in 1956 and resided there for 12 years before moving to Concord where they lived for 45 years. In 2013 they moved to Acton.
John was the proprietor of Jones Upholstery, of Concord, MA for 58 years. In 2006 he retired and they shared time between Concord, Acton and Falmouth in the steady company of their family and friends.
John will be remembered for his loving and caring nature, humor, generosity, friendly demeanor, fun loving attitude and mischievous personality. He was a dedicated husband and father. He loved Cape Cod and spending time with his lifelong love, Norma, his family and friends. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, he loved to watch his beloved Red Sox and was relieved when they won the World Series in 2004. He loved to sing and enjoyed listening to all types of music. He never passed a yard sale and loved finding a bargain. Other hobbies included collecting CDs, DVDs, coins and the tools of his trade.
Funeral Services were Sat. July 25th at 10 am in Acton Congregational Church, 12 Concord Road, Acton.
Interment with military honors followed in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery , Concord.
Visiting hours were held at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER on Friday July 24th from 4 to 8 pm.
