John R. Hester passed away on January 1, 2021, at the age of 67, after being diagnosed with cancer four weeks earlier.
He grew up in Lincoln, Massachusetts, and was the eldest son of Leon B. and Mary ("Muffin") Hester, long-time residents of Lincoln who predeceased him. He graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury High School in 1971 and from Bates College in 1975, and then received an M.B.A. from New York University in 1977.
He worked as a financial analyst in New York City from 1977 through 1988, and then relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, before moving to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where he managed stock portfolios and engaged his passion for the Patriots and all New England sports. He was devoted to his nieces and nephews and kept careful track of their lives and adventures. His dry wit and his dedication to his extended family will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind three brothers, Timothy, Andrew and Michael and their wives Frances, Suzanne and Bronwen, six nephews and nieces, and a grand-nephew.
The family will conduct a private service and burial at Lincoln Cemetery.
