Obituary

Pete Driscoll, age 74, of Westford and West Dennis, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and two children on March 16, 2018 after a long and valiant fight against cancer. He was the beloved husband of Mary Kathleen "Katie" (O'Keefe) Driscoll for just shy of 50 years. He was the doting and devoted father to his daughter Amy E. Driscoll and his son Ryan E. Driscoll and daughter-in-law Reagan (Barrett). He was the most loving "Baba" to his cherished grandsons Charlie, Conor and Teddy Driscoll. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Pete also leaves behind his loving sister Sheila Ann (Driscoll) Capano and her husband Richard Capano, his brothers-in-law Thomas O'Keefe and his wife Twyla, Stephen O'Keefe, Michael O'Keefe and John O'Keefe and his wife Eileen, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved their "Uncle Pete." Born in Boston on April 18, 1943 to the late Marjorie E. (Anderson) and Walter J. Driscoll, Pete grew up in Concord where he loved playing high school football. He attended Northeastern University, earning a degree in Mathematics in 1965 and an MBA in 1981. During his school days, Pete played bass for the "legendary" Tritons band with his friends. He also earned the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserves. Pete spent his entire 52-year career at Western Electric and its successor companies from AT&T to Nokia. Pete married the love of his life, Katie, in 1968 after meeting at a bar in Boston; they raised their beloved children in Westford and spent summers at their cottage in West Dennis. He never missed any of his kids' sporting events, loved family ski trips, sailing and attending BC football games. His favorite times were relaxing at the beach with friends and family. Extremely witty, smart, kind and effortlessly cool, Pete always put his family ahead of himself even as he fought cancer on and off for 20 years. In addition to endless fun memories, he passed along to his children a love of music, laughing and life. Anyone that shared a drink with Pete had nothing but great things to say about him. Relatives and friends will gather at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford St., Concord, MA on Friday, March 23 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 10 a.m. in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, immediately following, all are welcome to celebrate Pete at Concord's Colonial Inn, 48 Monument Square in Concord. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday in recognition of Pete's service to his country in the U. S. Army. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the memory of John Peter Driscoll to the "Dr. Avigan Research Fund" at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center by visiting www.bidmc.org/giving.
