SFC John Charles "Charlie" Campobasso, ARNG (Ret.), age 72, formerly of Lincoln, Acton and Methuen died Thursday April 28, 2011 in Pepperell. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (McAllister) Campobasso. Born in Bamberg, South Carolina on August 1, 1938 he was the son of the late John C. and Ethel (Ayer) Campobasso. He grew up in Lincoln, attended Lincoln Public Schools and was a 1956 graduate of Concord High School where he lettered in Track and Baseball. He retired as a Sergeant First Class in 1998 after a lifelong military career with the Massachusetts National Guard and also as Tank Master Gunner with the Military Police. He has resided in Methuen for the past 15 years , after previously living in Acton from 1962 until 1985. He was a Life member of the Concord Lodge of Elks and also a member of the Maynard Rod and Gun Club. After his retirement he worked for Auto Hunter magazine as a photographer in the classified department. In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by four children, Judi Briere of California, Paul Campobasso of Acton, Nancy Hewitt of New Hampshire, and Lisa Forbes of Pepperell, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. He was also the brother of the late Phyllis Flannery. Funeral will be held Tuesday May 3rd from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 8:45 am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Lincoln at 10 am. Interment with military honors will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Monday May 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. An Elks service will be held Monday evening at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Mass. Fallen Heroes Memorial, P. O.
