Obituary

John Brian Ritchie, of Concord, formerly of Carlisle and Framingham, died suddenly and peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2019. He was 56. He was born on March 16, 1962 to his parents, the late Floyd and Frances Ritchie. Raised and educated in Framingham, John, a member of troop 78, received the rank of Eagle Scout in his younger years. His father served in the Navy during WWII, and as the youngest of seven siblings, John's early family life shaped him into the strong man he became. For over twenty years, John faithfully served as a Firefighter and Paramedic with the Lexington Fire Department. He was a proud Mason, and a longtime member of the Corinthian Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Concord. A talented handy man who could fix anything, John founded, along with one of his life long friends, their own tiling company, Craftsman Tile. As a proud father, his two sons were his pride and joy. John will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his love of American history, and his talent as a proficient scuba diver. He held a profound love for music, reading, skiing, golfing, and travelling, including his most recent trip to Costa Rica. John leaves behind his wife, Perri (Berkes) Ritchie of Carlisle, Massachusetts, and his two sons, Nick Ritchie of Chelmsford, Massachusetts and Will Ritchie of Carlisle, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his siblings, Sandy Shepard of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Patricia Petty of Niceville, Florida, and Robert B. Ritchie of Homer, Alaska. He was the brother of the late William A. Ritchie of Medway, Massachusetts, Phillip E. Ritchie of Southborough, Massachusetts, and Mark Ritchie of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Saturday, March 23rd from 3 to 5 pm, with a time of remembrance and Masonic service beginning at 5 pm. Officers and Members of the Lexington Fire Department will pay tribute to John by serving as Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Lexington Firefighters Aid & Relief Fund, 173 Bedford Street, Lexington, MA 02420 and/or to Corinthian Lodge A.F. & A.M., 58 Monument Square, Concord, MA 01742.
