Obituary

Jodi B. (Grosnick) Barron, age 38, of Acton, formerly of Longmeadow, died suddenly on Monday September 12th surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of 9 years of Seth A. Barron, formerly of Concord, and loving mother of Joshua, Annison and Zachary Barron, all of Acton. She was the cherished daughter of Allen and Fran Grosnick and granddaughter of David and Muriel Cohen, all of Longmeadow. She was the devoted sister of Wendi Ginsberg and her husband Keith of Chandler, AZ, and brother of Scott Grosnick and his wife Erin of Granby, MA. Jodi attended Longmeadow High School in Longmeadow, MA, followed by the University of New Hampshire and then Worcester State College where she received her master's degree in speech-language pathology. She followed her own childhood speech-language pathologist to Holyoke Hospital where she landed her first job, and later worked at Nashoba Valley Hospital, until she found her true love of helping young children. She obtained her teaching license and was employed by both the Maynard and Marlborough public schools. She also worked part-time at Emerson Hospital. She was an active member of the Acton Family Network and its babysitting co-op. She also served on the preschool advisory council of Congregation Beth Elohim's Early Learning Center. However, she put the most energy into raising her three beautiful children, giving them every bit of energy and love she could find. She always put them first, and along with her parents and extended family; they were everything to her. Whether doing projects with her kids at home or taking them on walks and bike rides, she never sat still. She loved to cook and had an amazing talent for shopping where she would save more than she spent. Her favorite places to spend time outside of her home were in Utah at Snowbird Ski Resort and with her parents at their home in Longmeadow. She loved to downhill ski and spend time on the water in Essex, MA, boating or on the beach. She will be remembered most for her passion for life, brilliant smile, always putting others first, quiet leadership and dazzling auburn hair. The world will be a lot less bright without our Jodi. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 15th at 11 am in Congregation Kerem Shalom, 659 Elm Street, Concord. Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord. A reception will be held following the cemetery services on Thursday September 15th from 1:30 to 3 pm at Congregation Beth Elohim, 133 Prospect Street, Acton. The family will sit shiva on Thursday September 15th from 4 to 8 pm and Friday September 16th from 4 to 6 pm at the home of Lindsay and Erik Rosenman, 31 Arlington, St., Acton, and also on Saturday September 17th from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday September 18th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the home of Allen and Frances Grosnick, 80 Ridge Road, Longmeadow. Donations in her memory may be made to Congregation Beth Elohim Early Learning Center, 133 Prospect St., Acton, MA 01720. Arrangements are under the care of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
