Joan M. (Sievens) O'Keefe, 85, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 15, 2017 in Concord.
Joan is remembered by all as a phenomenal mother and grandmother and as a faithful, compassionate and resoundingly funny person. Originally from Everett, MA and a 1949 graduate of Everett High School, Joan and William "Billy" O'Keefe were married in 1960 lived for nearly a decade on Dean Street in Everett before choosing to settle in Concord where they raised their children on Riverdale Road becoming an intrinsic part of the neighborhood and dedicated parishioners of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. As a member of the community Joan was always regarded as person who brought warmth and her signature sense of humor to all occasions. All were welcome at Joan's kitchen table.
She was the cherished mother of Jon O'Keefe and his wife Sarah of Concord, Polly Lewis and her husband Wyndham of Boston, Michael Kane O'Keefe and his husband Peter Greene of New York City, MaryBeth Lorenz and her husband Christopher of South Freeport, ME, and the late William S. O'Keefe Jr., adored grandmother of Annabel and Jonathan O'Keefe and William and Lucy Lorenz, and sister of Robert Sievens and his wife Patricia of Peabody. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In remembrance, relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, May 21st from 2 to 5 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Her funeral will be held on Monday, May 22nd at 9 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord.
