Joan F. (Magaletta) Ciampa, 85, of Revere, formerly of East Boston, passed away peacefully at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln on April 12, 2023. She was the wife of the late Francis R. Ciampa, who died in 1975.

She was born in Boston on April 7, 1938 to her late parents, Vito and Roberta (Bradley) Magaletta. During her youth, she excelled in athletics, serving as Captain for the sports teams she was on, including softball, volleyball and basketball. At a young age, she developed an extraordinary talent for stitching, sewing and crocheting, which she continued to enjoy throughout her life. She was also a Hairstylist, before being employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where she worked as a Secretary within the State House for over 20 years.

Joan will be lovingly remembered as an independent, strong and hardworking woman. She was so rich with amazing stories about by-gone days. She was a lifelong animal lover, devoting many hours to volunteering at a local cat shelter. A sports fanatic, she was a die-hard Red Sox fan, watching games up until the final days of her life. She enjoyed painting and gardening in her spare time. Above all, Joan remained dedicated to her family, and took special delight in being a grandmother.

She was the beloved mother of Carol Giragos and her husband John, and the proud grandmother of Francesca and Alessandra Giragos, all of Concord, MA. Joan also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. She was the loving sister of the late Roger and Alan Magaletta.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
