Obituary

Jo-Anne R. (Verrocchio) Buck-Moore, age 82, of Maynard, formerly of Cambridge and Watertown, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Sunday, September 19, 2021, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Buck and the late Donald P. Moore. Jo-Anne was born in Cambridge on January 3, 1939, as the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise Verrocchio. She attended Mount Trinity Academy in Watertown. In her early twenties, she graduated from the Shepherd-Gill School of Practical Nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital, and later earned her master's in Nursing Administration from the University of Rhode Island. Jo-Anne was employed by numerous hospitals in several capacities including Charge Nurse and Nursing Director. She devoted the majority of her career working in Psychiatric Nursing and Substance Abuse. Prior to fully retiring at the age of 75, she was also a nurse educator at several colleges in Florida and Massachusetts. Those close to Jo-Anne will remember her passion for seeing the world and traveling extensively. This included treasured trips to Egypt, Japan, Turkey, and Iceland. More recently, she cherished vacations in South East Asia, and her last big getaway was a beautiful cruise around South America. She enjoyed reading and was a lover of opera and the theatre. She will be dearly missed by four children, Marie-Louise Buck, Victoria Ann Buck Brown, Katrina Buck and Edwin Joseph Buck, five grandchildren, Joseph Buck-Grossi, Rose Buck-Grossi, Ian Buck, Logen Buck, and Liam Buck, along with her faithful canine companion, Lola. Family and friends will gather for visiting hours in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, on Sunday, September 26th from 4 to 6 pm, concluding with a prayer service. At the family's request, all attendees are asked to wear masks. Interment will be at a later date in Belmont Cemetery. Her family wishes to extend gratitude to the Maynard Police and Fire Departments for their professional medical assistance to Jo-Anne and Dee Funeral Home for accommodating her wishes in conducting her memorial services.
