Obituary

JIRO A. ISHIHARA, 86, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the husband of the late Tama Ishihara. Mr. Ishihara was born in Los Angeles, California on November 11, 1925, the son of the late Seitaro and Shina Ishihara. He was a graduate of Roosevelt College and received a Masters Degree from Northwestern University. He worked on the Whirlwind computer project at MIT's Lincoln Labs, and he then worked as an electrical engineer at Mitre Corporation for many years before retiring. Mr. Ishihara volunteered building sets for the Concord Players and also volunteered with the Concord Orchestra and at Emerson Hospital in the transportation department. He enjoyed his grandchildren's activities, gardening, and taking walks overlooking the Sudbury River. He is survived by his two daughters, Margaret Ishihara of Wareham, Nancy Ishihara of Cambridge, and his son Mark Ishihara of Germantown, Wisconsin, and five grandchildren, Andrew, Brett and Charles Ishihara and Derek and Mara Zinky. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 1 to 3 PM and 7 to 9 PM in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on February 1, 2012 at the Duvall Chapel, 80 Deaconness Rd., Concord. Officiating will be the Reverend Lilian Warner, Chaplain, New England Deaconess Abundant Life Community and Reverend Dr. John Lombard, Senior Minister, Trinitarian Congregational Church, Concord, MA.
