Jim Canty, 54, of Concord, died of Glioblastoma Tuesday April 25, 2017 at his Concord home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 25 years of Kristin M. (Clough) Canty.
Born in Buffalo, NY on June 11, 1962, he was the son of Edward J. and Kathryn (Frey) Canty of Schenectady, New York. He attended Schenectady public schools and graduated from Linton High School in 1980. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 1984 from St. Bonaventure University in New York where he played on the rugby team. He graduated Cum Laude from Georgetown University Law School in 1991.
Since 1999, Jim served as President and Partner of Clough Capitol Partners in Boston. Previously he worked at Converse, Inc. in North Andover. He served on numerous boards, including St. Bonaventure and Razia's Ray of Hope.
A resident of Concord since 1997, he will always be remembered by his family and friends for his love and dedication to his family, his sense of humor, warmth, love of hockey, golf, the Berkshires and clamming on Cape Cod.
In addition to his wife, Kristin, and his parents, Edward and Kathryn, he is survived by 4 children, Brendan, Caitlin, Charlie and Maggie Canty, all of Concord, his siblings, Mary Canty and her husband Robert Linden of CT, Jack Canty and his wife Maureen of NY, Bill Canty and his wife Lori of NY, Tom Canty and his wife Anne of Germany, Tim Canty and his wife Karen of NY, Catherine Deasy and her husband Bill of Mansfield, MA and Peter Canty and his wife Beth of NY, and 32 loving nieces and nephews and many Clough in-laws. He was also the brother of the late Mike Canty.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 30th from 1 to 4 PM and 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 1st at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.
