Jessica Daley Lanigan was born in Concord, MA on January 21, 1985, to Sarah Flaherty Lanigan and Kevin Lanigan, the second of four siblings.

She lived in Maynard, MA for her childhood, graduating from Maynard High School in 2003. After high school, she attended Middlesex Community College while working as a paralegal. She later transferred and graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in 2010 with a B.A. in Sociology. Jessica was passionate about using her degree to better the world and spent time volunteering for organizations committed to helping refugees and asylum seekers. Throughout the years Jessica proved to be an incredibly dedicated and hard worker, thriving in the catering and food service industry. She had most recently lived in Nashville, TN where she had built a strong community of friends and coworkers.

Jess was an artist, a creative soul, and a vivacious spirit. She was a lover of nature, music, and travel. Her dimpled smile could light up the whole room, and she was always there to help others in need. She was adventurous, braver than we will ever know, and above all, kind.

Jessica struggled for many years with opiate addiction, a disease that ultimately took her life, when she overdosed on October 8, 2024. She had been sober for more than a year.

She is survived by her parents, Sarah and Kevin, siblings Emily, Andrew and April, Sheila and her little nephew Lincoln, as well as her aunts Lisa Flaherty Shaw, and Tricia Lanigan Deptula,and J.J. Miller Lanigan, and uncles Chris Lanigan, Brian Lanigan, Brian Shaw, and Paul Deptula, along with many cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Walter and Sheila (Mahoney) Flaherty, and Virginia (Daley) Lanigan and William Lanigan.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 4 PM at The Maynard Rod and Gun Club, 45 Old Mill Road, Maynard, MA.

Donations in Jessica's name can be made to Recovery Community Inc. , a recovery housing community in Madison TN, where Jessica spent time living in 2024.
