IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerrold Moore
Yos
January 1, 1930 – March 23, 2023
The past tense is for those who were and no longer are. Jerrold Moore Yos will, for those of us who know and love him, always be. Guiding us, inspiring us, and shaping us into who we are and will continue to become, Jerry Yos will always reside in our present tense.
Jerry Yos is an adventurer. He, alongside his hiking buddies, climbs mountains and follows trails to wherever they might lead. He embarked upon his latest journey on March 23, 2023. He suspects, with his keen scientific mind, that this final trail leads to a peaceful, dreamless sleep. But he is open to other possibilities; perhaps he is now with the creator, dining with Einstein, or scattered amongst the stardust.
Jerry Yos is long-lived. Born at the very dawn of the 1930's, Jerry is 93 years of age. He started his journey as a son of the mid-west. He was born in Iowa, raised in Nebraska, and sold peanuts at the ball park to earn a little extra change. After receiving his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Nebraska, Dr. Yos traveled East for work and further adventure. He tried to go by foot. But that didn't work out. So he took a train.
Jerry Yos is a kind man. He's the beloved son of Francis Willard and Ida Helen Yos. He's Jan's big brother. He's Ann's husband. He's the father of Dave, Jamie, and Toby. He's the always entertaining grandpa to 6 grandkids and great-grandpa to 5 great-grandkids. He is, his many friends will tell you, a sweet man who cares deeply about trying to leave the world better than he found it.
Jerry Yos is the smartest guy we've ever met. He worked for more than four decades as a Theoretical Physicist, much of it at Textron Defense Systems. His work, for most of us, is beyond comprehension. Jerry can also spontaneously launch into a recitation of poetry in multiple languages or astound you with his encyclopedic knowledge of trailside flora & fauna.
Jerry Yos is a non-conformer. He's independent in spirit and isn't afraid to take the road less traveled. He's playful; leaving it to occasionally exasperated parents to explain to their children why simply doing what grandpa does may not be the safest course of action.
Jerry Yos is generous. As he set forth on this latest journey, he left his body to the Harvard Medical School Students. He most sincerely wants to help them to further their education. Jerry also gives liberally to charities. His favorite causes are protecting nature, fighting climate change, supporting women's reproductive rights, and feeding hungry children. Jerry would likely tell you to donate to a worthy cause rather than needlessly chopping down flowers. He would, we imagine, leave it to you to decide where to give.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
