Obituary

Jeanne Dorothy Fitzgibbons, 92, passed away peacefully at home in Concord, MA on November 24, 2023.  She was born in Concord to Timothy and Winifred (O'Neill) Moynihan and lived her entire life in the town that she loved.

Jeanne is survived by her five children and their spouses: Mary "Molly" Frank (Peter) of Maynard; Joseph Fitzgibbons (Goretti) of Chelmsford; Jeremiah "Jay" Fitzgibbons (Karen Anderson) of Newton; Kathy Flynn (Paul) of Maynard; and Jeannie Fitzgibbons (Paul Grasso) of Concord. "Gram" will be dearly missed by her 13 grandchildren – Peter, Joseph, Madeline, Lauren, Christopher, Erik, John, Kelly, Meghan, Lydia, Erin, Joe and Jack. She was looking forward to the arrival of her first great-grandchild in February 2024. Jeanne also had many nephews and nieces that held a special place in her heart.

Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Joseph Thomas Fitzgibbons ("Fitzy"), a Concord police officer, who passed away in 1988. She was also predeceased by her parents, her two sisters and her two brothers.

Jeanne and Fitzy were lovingly devoted to each other throughout their 29 years of marriage. They settled in Concord, where they raised their close-knit family. They enjoyed spending time with their children, playing cards with friends and making each other laugh.

A lifelong learner and reader, Jeanne attended Concord Public Schools and graduated from Burdett College. For many years, she worked as an administrative assistant at International Salt Company in Boston, Minuteman Arc and the Concord Public Schools, along with volunteering at St. Bernard's Church and Holy Family Parish in Concord. In her later years, she volunteered at the Concord Council on Aging.

Jeanne was a kind soul who had a sunny disposition and a smile for everyone. She had friends in many circles, both old and new, and they were all very important to her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who never missed a family gathering and cherished every visit, phone call, birthday, graduation, wedding and holiday. Her annual arrival at the family holiday brunch wearing a Christmas hat covered in blinking lights will not ever be forgotten.
