Jeanmary R. Smith, 92, passed away with family by her side on January 18, 2018.
Born in 1925, the daughter of the late Michael F. and Frances E. (O'Connell) Corridan, she attended school in Chicopee MA. and New York City, NY.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Donald O. Smith, who died in 2008; her daughter, Roberta Graham who died in 2016; and her siblings, Dr. Barbara Corridan Hemond, James P. Corridan, William G. Coridan, and Frances Gallagher.
She is survived by her children, Alison Dwelley and her husband Fred of Millis, MA; Priscilla Simons and her husband John of Lake Bluff, IL.; Donald Smith, Jr.; Laura McKenna and her husband David of Concord, MA.; Rebecca Moesinger of Nantucket, MA.; David Smith and his wife Rejane of Winchester, MA.; and Sarah Carter and her husband Paul of Southborough, MA. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, her siblings Thomas Corridan and Fe McGrail, her sisters-in-law, Eleanor Corridan, Ruth Corridan, Margaret Corridan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeanmary met Donald while she was visiting home from New York City at a USO event at the Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee where he was stationed after getting home from Europe. They married in September 1947. She approached everything she did with passion, whether it was teaching dancing as a young woman, raising her children, fighting for civil rights, travelling the world as an employee of Delta Airlines, or helping brides pick out their wedding cakes.
The family would like to take the opportunity to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at The Falls at Cordingly Dam in Newton, MA and Ascend Hospice.
Services and burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 11 am on Monday, January 29, 2018 followed by a celebration of Jeanmary's life at the Colonial Inn, 48 Monument Square, Concord, MA, from 2 to 4 pm.
