Jay Newton Teixeira, longtime resident of Harvard, MA, died suddenly and unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, March 24, 2022, just 5 days before his 42nd birthday.
The first grandchild in his family, he had many cousins, sisters and brothers who looked up to him. He excelled at math from a young age, skipping into a higher grade in elementary, and a member of the high school math team. A team of Jay and his friends won a chess tournament with an impressive trophy on display at Bromfield until the next school year.
An introvert, his favorite activities were computer and video games with his friends, bicycling, running and photography. He received a bachelors in electrical engineering at Northeastern University and worked on high end car stereos at Bose Corporation until the recession. While at Bose, he was a co-inventor of two patents involving audio systems with synthesized positive impedance.
Recently, Jay was developing his own physics game engine since he was frustrated by physical inaccuracies in current game engines. His attention to detail lead him to build a four-microphone recording setup to capture realistic sound fields for sound effects and background noise. He wanted all aspects of object trajectories to simulate what would happen in the real world.
A devoted son, he helped his parents around the house, taking pride in caring for the organic lawn.
A doting uncle, he lit up and was at his happiest playing with his 2 nephews and 2 nieces. He would tirelessly carry them around until they could walk, read books and played games for hours with them. He was always striving to find "the best present in the free world" for them for Christmas and their birthdays. They absolutely adored their Uncle Jay.
He is survived by his parents ,Thomas and Gillian Teixeira, and brothers Alex and Steven Teixeira of Harvard, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Margo and John Lisi, and nephews Cooper and Vincent Lisi of Holliston, and his sister and brother-in-law Pam and Ion Tsinteris and nieces Tess and Irena Tsinteris of Hopkinton.
A private service for close friends and family will be held in the spring.
In remembrance of Jay's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to local museums that delight and discretely teach children.
Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
