Janice Liverpool Hale, age 92, of Concord, MA and a summer resident of Weld, ME, died Tuesday, April 5th at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Hale who died in 2012.
Born in Somerville, MA on February 9, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Coval and Amelia (Heller) Liverpool. She attended Somerville Public Schools and graduated from Somerville High School in 1942.
Mrs. Hale received her bachelor and master degrees in Library Science from Simmons College in Boston.
For several years, prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Librarian at Middlesex Community College and at the Bedford Public Library. She also served as the Editor of the Hobby Greenhouse Association Magazine for over twenty years.
A resident of Newbury Court in Concord since 2007, she was a passionate gardener, was active with the Weld, ME Historical Society, and was a member of Small Impressions in Massachusetts.
Survivors include her sons, Coval F. Hale and his wife Julie of Granbury, TX and Anthony N. Hale of East Boston, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her sister, Romayne Potosky of Normandy Park, WA, and two nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 17th at 3 pm in the Duvall Chapel at New England Deaconess Association, 80 Deaconess Road, Concord. Officiating will be Rev. Lilian J. Warner, Chaplain.
