Janet M. (Bush) Verny, 84, formerly of Dennis and Concord, passed away at New Horizons at Marlborough on June 12, 2022, following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Frank W. Verny, who died in 2016. Janet was born in Providence, RI on October 26, 1937, as the daughter of the late Kenneth and Wilma (Van Reen) Bush. She graduated from University of Rhode Island in 1959, and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Over the course of her professional career in healthcare, Janet worked as a consulting dietitian for several nursing homes. For many years, she was a member of Trinitarian Congregational Church in Wayland, Grace Chapel in Lexington, and most recently, Brewster Baptist Church in Brewster. In her spare time, Janet worked to build houses as a devoted volunteer for Habitat for Humanity on Cape Cod. She enjoyed shell collecting at the beach, attending yard sales, cooking, and being with friends. She and Frank loved to travel, especially to many of the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, Mexico, Thailand, and several countries in Europe. When living in Concord, the couple loved being active in the colonial re-enactment groups such as the Concord Minutemen. From childhood and through most of her life, she held a special place in her heart for "The Camp", a family summer home on Quiddnick Reservoir in Coventry, RI. Janet's life and memory will be cherished by her two dedicated and beloved children, Eric Verny and his wife Lynn of Marlborough and Karen Henny and her husband Peter of Barrington, NH. She was the sister of the late Kenneth S. Bush, Jr. Family members will gather for a private burial service on June 17, 2022 at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity . Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
