Janet E. (Fifield) Churchill, 88, a Carlisle resident for 60 years, died at UMass Medical Center in Worcester on April 15, 2021. She was the devoted wife for 60 years of the late William P. Churchill, Jr. who died on January 1, 2021. Born in Mt. Kisco, New York on April 1, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ensley and Olive Fifield. She spent her first nine years in the small town of Millwood, New York, before moving to neighboring Mt. Kisco. She was a member of her high school's band all four years, and was Drum Majorette in her senior year. She was a parishioner at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Mt. Kisco, where she taught Sunday school, and sang as an alto in the church choir. She was also active with St. Mark's Players group, acting in several of their productions. Janet completed her studies at the Washington School for Secretaries in New York City, which was followed by a secretarial career with several companies in architecture and furniture building in the city, retiring with IBM in the data processing division. She was Secretary for the Christian Singles Club, where she found a love for skiing and met her soulmate, Bill Churchill of Briarcliff, New York. Once married, the couple relocated to Watertown, before settling in Carlisle and raising a family. For many years, Janet worked for the Carlisle Mosquito as the Manager for classified advertisements and volunteered for the Carlisle Historical Society. Janet was a devoted mother, supporting the academic and athletic endeavors of her children. Janet's memory will be cherished by her two sons, Philip J. Churchill and his wife Lori of Hubbardston and Peter C. Churchill and his wife Jennifer of Hillsborough, NC, and five grandchildren, Andrew, Kati, James, Becca, and Cole. Family and friends will gather to celebrate the lives of Janet and Bill during visiting hours in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, on Monday, June 14th from 10 am until 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Mutts With a Mission , PO Box 4147, Suffolk, VA 23439. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
