Jane Owens Wootton, 85, passed away on December 19th, 2016 surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren, many present others in spirit.
Jane was born in Philadelphia to the late Thelma and John Passant. She graduated from high school in Philadelphia and went on to the Yale Teachers College in New Haven, Ct. Jane found love a second time, later in life with the Rev. Roger Wootton, who she remained married to for 32 years.
Jane was a spirited, elegant and strong woman, with a huge heart. She loved animals of all shapes and sizes and it was not unusual to see her feeding a raccoon, her favorite badger, or squirrel out of her hand at her back door. In her Malden neighborhood she was affectionately known as "the bird lady". She was never without a couple of cats to love in her home.
She was an ardent, talented artist. Jane hand painted ceramics for the Potting Shed in West Concord, Ma for many years in the eighties. Her wares were displayed and sold at the Museum of Fine Arts Gift shop in Boston.
A natural cook, Jane hand wrote extensive cook books full of family recipes for her children.
She was the very best Grammie to 14 grandchildren, always a lady, and an absolutely amazing mother.

Roger Wootton of Malden, MA, her children Joan Owens of Barnstable, MA; Peter Owens and his wife, Carolie Chapman-Owens of Portsmouth, NH; Susan Friedenfeld of Ely, Minnesota; Ethan Owens and his wife, Stephanie Keene of Buxton, Maine; Emily Bachand and her husband, Allen Bachand Jr.of Harwich, Ma. Jane was blessed with news that her 1st Great - grandchild was on the way, expected to be born in April 2017 to grandson, Nathan & his wife Lindsey, just before her passing. She was thrilled!
