IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Ann
Moyer
August 20, 1964 – October 10, 2023
Jane Ann Moyer, 59, of Concord, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at her home on the 10th of October 2023, in the presence of her wife Janet, close family and friends. She had been diagnosed earlier in the year with ALS.
Jane is survived by Janet Free, her wife of 23 years, her father Ronald Moyer and stepmother Anne Marie (Annie) Moyer of Matamoras PA, her brother Ronald (Ros) Moyer, sister-in-law Roberta (Robbie) Moyer and her nephew Maxwell Moyer all of Chicago IL. Jane was predeceased by her mother Barbara Moyer, by her niece Alex Moyer of Chicago IL and by her mother-in-law Patricia Free of Dublin, Ireland. She also leaves behind many other extended family members in Pennsylvania, in Dublin, Ireland, in London, England and in Duffus, Scotland.
Jane was born in Port Jervis, NY on the 20th August 1964 and grew up in the town of Matamoras PA. As a Rotary scholar she moved to Germany for school where she became fluent in German and formed lifelong friends in the town of Budingen.
She received her Undergraduate degree in German and Business Studies from Penn State University (1987) and she received her Master's degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University (1999).
After graduating from Cornell Jane moved to San Francisco where she met Janet at a Frameline movie. Her passion for film and GLBTQ visibility spurred her to join the Frameline board on which she served for many years until moving to Denmark.
Her studies and career as an HR executive brought Jane the opportunity to live in many different countries including Germany, Canada, Denmark and Ireland. Jane's career encompassed a wide variety of industries from wine (Kendall-Jackson in Sonoma, CA), coffee (Starbucks in San Francisco, Seattle and Toronto, Canada), container shipping (Maersk in Copenhagen, Denmark), pharmaceuticals (ICON Dublin, Ireland) to academia (Northeastern University, Boston, MA) and finally finance (Commonwealth Financial Network, Waltham, MA).
Jane kept her connection to academia throughout her working career. She was a member of the inaugural faculty of Penn State's LSER Department's World Campus where she designed and taught HR Management classes. She was co-chair for LSER'S board at the Penn State School of Labor and Employment Relations as well serving as on other professional HR boards including Boston University Human Resources Policy Institute and Northeast HR Association.
At Kendall Jackson Jane had the opportunity to sit the International Sommelier Guild Certificate exam and become a licensed member. This fortified her love of wine, a passion that was initiated on taking an elective Introduction to Wine course whilst a student at Cornell. At the request of friends and colleagues Jane would organize entertaining and illuminating wine tasting evenings. Many of these enjoyable wine-filled evenings occurred at Jane and Janet's home, when she would regale guests with stories from her youth, and from Janet's and her travels.
Jane will be dearly missed by her wife, family and friends.
Donations in Jane's memory may be made to Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS) or an animal charity of your choice.
