Obituary

Jane (Buckley) Boivin, age 85, a longtime Concord resident, passed away peacefully at Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford, MA on July 26, 2021. She was the beloved wife for 58 years of the late Lt. Col. Arcade G. Boivin, II, USA (Ret.), who predeceased her in 2015. Jane was born in Watertown, NY on August 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James E. Buckley and the late Alice Judson Buckley. Jane was raised in Albany, NY and graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1953 and The College of St. Rose in 1957 Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Elementary Education. Jane had a passion for children, the nurturing and education of the younger generation and ultimately she spent her energies on the raising of her seven children. As the wife of a career military officer, she lived in many places throughout the US and Panama. She enjoyed the outdoors and passed onto her offspring the love of skiing, ice-skating, horseback riding and swimming. She had a devotional faith in Jesus Christ and in the Catholic Church, and served as a CCD education teacher in her parish. She contributed to her community in a myriad of ways including the Meals on Wheels, League of Women Voters, and outreaches wherever she perceived a need and she sought to meet it. Jane leaves behind her seven children: Ellen Garthoff of Shirley, MA, Michael and Ingrid Boivin of Monroe, NC, Joan Boivin of Gloucester, MA, Jacqueline and John Trainer of Nashua, NH, Joseph and Lori Boivin of Tiverton, RI, Peter and Marcia Boivin of Ave Maria, FL and Renee Carvajal of Hammondsport, NY, her grandchildren: Nicholas Garthoff and his wife, Areli Garthoff, Andrei Garthoff, Tristan Boivin, Hunter Boivin, Roma Trainer, Lukas Boivin, Amelia Boivin, Natalie Boivin, Derba Boivin, Mita Boivin, Quentin Carvajal, Lanie Carvajal, Jennifer Trainer and her husband, Nathan Dumond and great grandchildren, Maia Garthoff, Aaliyah Trainer and Aadian Dumond. She also leaves behind her brother James E. Buckley of Albany, NY and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two siblings, William Buckley and Ann White (nee Buckley), and her son-in-law, John Carvajal. Family and friends will gather for Jane's Funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 3rd at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center.
