Obituary

James Roberts, 93, of Maynard, formerly of Lexington died Thursday June 17, 2010 at Emerson Hospital in Concord.was the beloved husband of the late Helen C. (Vitiello) Roberts and the late Barbara L. (Santora) Roberts. Born in Boston on March 29, 1917 he was the son of the late Elias and Miriam Aboozbeeb. He attended Boston public schools, was a graduate of Boston Latin High School, and in 1938 received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from M.I.T in Cambridge. During World War II, he worked on the Manhattan Project while employed at Roland Tiner Co. in Everett. He also worked atGeneral Electric Co. in Lynn and for a variety of other engineering and metal fabrication shops in the area. For the past 25 years he has owned and operated James Roberts Equipment Co. in Lexington, specializing in supplying equipment for transfer stations. He was a member of the Medford Lodge of Elks, and a 50 year member of the Samuel Crocker Lawrence Masonic Lodge inMedford and Arlington, presently known as Mystic Valley Lodge. He was also a member of the Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington. A Maynard resident since 1988, he had previously been a33 year resident of Lexington. Survivors include his son James D. Roberts and his wife Nanette L. of Groton, two grandchildren, James R. Roberts of Arlington,Virginia and Meredith L. Roberts of Groton, and his late wifeBarbara\'s family, Michelle A. Moll and her husband David and their three children Julie Ann, Jessica and Jennifer, all of Pepperell. He was also the brother of the late Joseph Roberts. Cemetery: Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, Massachusetts Visitation: June 21, 2010 in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. Service: June 22, 2010 , Reverend Father Demetrios T. Costarakis(officiant) , at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lexington, Massachusetts
