James C. Kjellander, 90, of Lincoln, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at his home. Born in Morganton, North Carolina on November 13, 1921 he was the son of the late Joel and Mary (Haddock) Kjellander. He attended Braintree public schools and graduated from Braintree High School. During World War II, he served as an Ensign at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida where he trained aviators to fly. He was recalled to duty for the Korean Conflict and served as a LTJG training helicopter aviators. For many years, prior to his retirement, Mr. Kjellander worked at Claus Gelotte Camera Store in Harvard Square and along with his sister, Mary, was co-owner of the Derby Jewelry Store in Harvard Square. A longtime Lincoln resident he was an active Communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Lincoln, was a member of St. Joseph's bowling league, and was an avid photographer. He is survived by his sister, Mary Kjellander of Lincoln and many cousins. He was the brother of the late Joel "Joe Joe" Kjellander and William David Kjellander, KIA, US Army, WW II. Cemetery:
Burial will be in the family burial plot on Thursday, March 1st at 1 PM in Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree.
Visitation:
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 29th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
Service:
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 1st at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, 142 Lincoln Road, Lincoln. Following the Mass, officers of the U. S. Navy will present military honors.
