James J. Inman, Jr. , 91, of Concord, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, a month shy of his 92nd birthday, at Emerson Hospital in Concord with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of 65 years of Madeline (MacDowell) Inman. They were married in 1946. Born in Boston on October 28, 1919 he was the son of the late James J. Inman and Margaret M. (Bresnahan) Inman. He grew up in Roxbury and attended Boston public schools. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy. Following his service in the Navy, he worked for 25 years as a Machinist at the Charlestown Navy Yard. For many years, after his retirement, Mr. Inman was self-employed as a Carpenter in the Concord area. A Concord resident since 1954, he previously lived in Malden. He was a member of the Concord Knights of Columbus, #287 and the Musketaquid Sportsman Club in Concord. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cribbage with family and friends. In addition to his wife, Madeline, he is survived by his son, John Inman of Wisconsin, his daughter, Claudia Desrosiers and her husband James of Groton, 4 grandsons, James J. Inman III of Wisconsin, David Comeau and his wife Elizabeth of Groton, Sean Comeau and his fiancée Denise Bousquet, and Brian Comeau, both of Brookline and great-grandson Trevor James Comeau of Groton, and great-granddaughter Eliana Rae Peskie-Inman of Wisconsin. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday in recognition of Mr. Inman's service to his country during World War II.
Cemetery:
Interment will follow with military honors in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bedford Street, Concord, Massachusetts.
Visitation:
Visitation will be on Friday, September 30th in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center from 5 to 7 PM.
Service:
Funeral service will be on Saturday, October 1st at 10 AM in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
