James Thomas Hurley, 84, of Concord, Massachusetts, formerly of Westport, Connecticut, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the husband of the late Patricia Anne (McKenna) Hurley.
Born in Glen Cove, New York on January 28, 1932, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Della Josephine Hurley. He received a Bachelor degree from Fordham University in New York and a Master's degree from Fairfield University in Connecticut. Mr. Hurley also served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Hurley spent the majority of his career working for General Electric Corporation. He worked in multiple roles in various General Electric locations including San Jose, CA, Frankfurt, Germany, Schenectady, NY and Stamford, CT. He retired after a long and distinguished career as Vice President of Sales, Promotion and Advertising.
Mr. Hurley and his family were longtime residents of Westport, CT. He was an avid golfer and skier. He was a very talented singer and was a member of the Fordham Glee Club and Mendelssohn Choir. He was a communicant of Assumption Church in Westport where he sang in the church choir. Mr. Hurley was most recently a resident of Concord, MA and a communicant of Holy Family Parish.
Survivors include his three daughters, Lisa Hurley and her husband, Brian Bagley, of Winchester, MA, Cristy Hurley of Hermosa Beach, CA, and Michelle Vesty, her husband, Todd, and Mr. Hurley's granddaughter, McKenna, of Groton, MA. Mr. Hurley was the brother of Terry Galvin of Glen Cove, NY and the late Ann Novakoski, Eileen Hurley and Monsignor Daniel Hurley. He is also survived by his nephew, Leo Novakoski and nieces Joan Davenport, Mary Ann Graffagnino, Maureen Kiggins, Ann Galvin, Eileen Galvin and Holly Hansen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1st, at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Avenue, Westport, CT. A reception will immediately follow his burial at Longshore Country Club, 260 Compo Road S, Westport, CT.
