James S. Fitzgerald, 70, of Hopedale, formerly of Concord, died suddenly in his home on March 6, 2022. He was the husband of the late Lynda (Gee) Fitzgerald. Born in Somerville on October 14, 1951, he was the son of the late James Vincent and Marie Phyllis (Reid) Fitzgerald. Jim grew up in Concord, graduating from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1969. After high school Jim began working at Grason-Stadler in West Concord where he developed skills as an electronics draftsman. He then went on to spend many years at Digital Equipment Corp in Maynard, where he met his wife, Lynda. Later in life, following his passion for cooking, he attended Johnson & Wales University and received a degree in Culinary Arts. Jim applied his culinary skills as an Executive Chef at Timothy Daniels House in Holliston. Jim was also a Boy Scout leader in Hopedale for several years. He was a furious reader and loved sailing, bowling, camping, racquetball, and attended numerous antique car shows with his friends. Jim will be remembered for his big heart, and one who was sociable and welcoming to all. Jim leaves behind a son, James P. Fitzgerald, four siblings, Michael Fitzgerald and his wife Susan of Carlisle, Kevin Fitzgerald and his wife Cheryl of Concord, Robert Fitzgerald of Acton and Kelly Fitzgerald of Shrewsbury, as well as two aunts, many nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jim's graveside service on Saturday, April 2nd at 10 am in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bedford Street, Concord. Out of respect to all, the family requests that masks be worn. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Daily Bread Food Pantry, 21 Exchange Street, Milford, MA 01757.
