James Mearl Deas, 85, of Concord died Memorial day, Monday, May 28, 2012 in Concord. Mr. Deas was married for 50 years to his late wife Helen. Born in Chicago, Illinois on January 17th, 1927, he was the son of Harold and Mearl Deas. After serving in the United States Army Air Forces during WWII, Mr. Deas attended Syracuse University where he graduated with a double major in Economics and Electrical Engineering. For the next thirty five years, he worked for the Department of Defense as an engineer and project manager on various air and space related defense projects. For many years, Jim was active in the Concord Minutemen, served on the Bicentennial Committee, and was a Mason. He also was a Scout Leader for Troop 132 and for twelve years was the town's Registrar of Veterans Graves. Jim leaves behind a daughter, Constance Deas, a son James Deas II and his wife Jacqueline, and his grandson Joshua Deas of Framingham. Services and interment will be held on Friday June 1st at 10 am at the family burial plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Bedford Street, (Rte. 62) Concord Center. Officiating will be Rev. Joel Guillemette, Senior Pastor of the Sudbury United Methodist Church.
