James Mitchell De Mott, 86, of Carlisle, formerly of Concord died Tuesday November 5, 2013 in Concord. He was the beloved husband of 62 years of Marillyn Fairhurst De Mott. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on November 7, 1926 he was the son of the late Irving and Irene Bunn (Mitchell) De Mott. Mr. De Mott was a 1950 graduate of Rutgers University, receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later received a Masters in Industrial Management from Drexel University. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict, and was a retired employee of Raytheon Corporation, where he worked for 32 years. During the 1970's, he served the Town of Carlisle as a member of the Board of Selectmen, and as the Board's Chairman for two years. He also helped in the organization of the Carlisle Minutemen, was responsible for coordinating the development of the Carlisle Town Seal, and was active as a leader with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Since 1961 he has been a member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord, serving on multiple Church committees. For 32 years at the Church, he was manager of the Concord Antiques Show, an event in which proceeds are donated to charities. In addition to his wife Marillyn, survivors include two children, James Mitchell De Mott and Lynda De Mott Vogt, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was also the father of the late David Allen De Mott who died in 1978. Services are private.
