Obituary

Jack Eugene Finley, age 95 of Concord, MA, formerly of Chelmsford, MA, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 at Concord Park Assisted Living Facility. He was married for 48 years to Berna Jean (Brassea) Finley, who predeceased him in April 2001.

Born on May 13, 1929 in Cañon City, CO, he was the son of Elsie Mae (Elias) Finley and Ernest John Finley. After graduating from Cañon City High School, Jack enlisted in the Navy in 1947. He served until 1952 on both the USS Cabot and the USS Midway aircraft carriers. It was there that he trained as an electronics technician. After completing Guided Missile Training in New Jersey and Alabama in 1953 he found work in Civil Service positions at White Sands Proving Grounds, NM.

Jack and Berna married on March 21, 1953 and settled in El Paso, TX. They moved to Chelmsford in 1958 where they raised their family. Jack worked for many years for Raytheon Company in their missile systems division in MA, holding senior management positions in several manufacturing plants including Andover, Bedford, and Lowell.

Jack was an avid golfer and longtime member of Andover Country Club. He was a 3-time winner of Andover's Governor's Cup and scored a hole-in-one on several occasions. Jack was a voracious reader and a lover of Sudoku. Having known hardship as a young child, he always had a soft spot for people who needed help.

Jack leaves behind his sister, Vida Mae Ramsey who resides in Ogden, Utah. Jack was also predeceased by his son, Andrew Finley of North Attleborough, MA. He was the beloved father of Kathryn Boudreau (Jim) of Carlisle, MA, Lynne Breen (Tim) of Freeport, ME, and Wendy Cabot (Philip) of Holliston, MA. Jack leaves behind three grandchildren: Meghan, Tori, and Sean and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Jack's family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated caregivers and staff at Concord Park Assisted Living Facility and the Bedford VA Hospital Staff.

A small plaque graced the entrance to Jack's home at Concord Park. It pays tribute to the caregivers that helped make his last years on earth so much richer:

"Every heart that has beat strong and cheerfully has left a hopeful impulse behind in the world and bettered the tradition of mankind."

R. L. Stevenson
