J. Neil Morrissey, 83, of Lincoln died Saturday June 15, 2013 in Concord. He was the beloved husband of 42 years of the late Mary 'Mae' (Walsh) Morrissey. Born in Belmont on September 29, 1929 he was the son of the late Joseph Morrissey and Anne (O'Neil) Morrissey. He attended Belmont and Watertown schools and Watertown High School. Mr. Morrissey served in the Army National Guard at Fort Devens. Following his marriage in 1954, he built his first home in Lexington. He later became a resident of Lincoln in 1964. A self-employed carpenter, he worked for ten years at Jordan Marsh in Auburndale. His real passion was raising his family and in working on the family owned Oriole Farm on Route Two in Lincoln. He was an enthusiastic outdoors person who enjoyed hiking and canoeing. He was the father of Mary Ann Morrissey and her partner Robert Zani, Kathleen Bunce, Peggy O'Brien and her husband Francis, John Morrissey Jr. and his wife Kelly Barnes Morrissey, Ellen DeRosa and her husband Robert, Kevin Morrissey and his wife Kara Kugelmeyer Morrissey and the late Maureen Black; grandfather of Meeghan and Heidi, Erin, Kara and Billy, Michael, Patrick, Katelyn and Liam, Cassie and Laureen, Shannon and Shayla and Hannah Mae and great grandfather of Regan. He was also the brother of the late Arthur Morrissey, Jean Curll and Charles Morrissey and is survived by several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cemetery:
Interment will follow in the family burial plot in Lincoln Cemetery.
Visitation:
Visiting hours are on Thursday June 20th from 4 to 8 pm.
Service:
Funeral will be held Friday June 21st from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford St., CONCORD CENTER at 8:45 am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 142 Lincoln Road, Lincoln at 10 am.
