Isabel C. Wilber, age 96, formerly of Stow, Eastham, Winchester, and Westfield, MA, died peacefully in her sleep on June 23, 2026.

Isabel was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas E. Wilber. She is survived by her four loving children: Jeffrey Wilber, and wife Julia, of Louisville, CO; Lauren Bradbury, and partner Michael Dodds of San Francisco, CA; Bob Wilber, and wife Karen of Stow, MA; and James Wilber, and wife Julie of Rapid City, SD. Isabel also had eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one niece and nephew – all of whom brought her great joy.

Isabel (Collins) was born in Charlotte, NC on May 3, 1930 to Thomas Collins, Jr. and Alberti (Mattice) Collins. She grew up in Westfield, MA and graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, MA.

She and husband, Tom, were married at the Church of the Atonement in Westfield, MA in 1953 and raised their four children in Winchester, MA.

She earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science from Simmons College before taking employment at the Lucious Beebe Memorial Library in Wakefield, MA for more than 25 years. Isabel served as a very dedicated Head Children’s Librarian, and took great pride in designing and implementing Reading Programs that inspired and enriched an entire generation of children in Wakefield in the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s.

Following their respective retirements, Isabel and Tom moved to Eastham, MA and enjoyed many years of joyous living at that Cape Cod location. During her retirement, she avidly pursued her favorite hobbies, including reading, playing her cherished 1898 Steinway piano, cooking and baking, and weaving a wide variety of textile art on her floor loom.

Isabel (Collins) Wilber was an amazing person who accomplished so much – all while showering love and positive energy on those around her. She will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, Isabel’s family requests that readers instead consider a donation to support ongoing programs in the Children’s Room of the Lucious Beebe Memorial Library in Wakefield, MA, care of the Administrative Department, in Memory of Isabel C. Wilber.
