Obituary

Isabel G. Dockendorff, 95, of Concord and Delray Beach, Fla., died Friday July 6, 2012. She was the widow of Noyes C. Dockendorff. She was born on March 27, 1917 in Washington, D.C., a daughter of U.S. Army surgeon Brig. Gen. Ralph Harvard Goldthwaite. Her youth was spent in Hawaii and she attended the Punahoe School. While her father was posted to the Presidio in San Francisco, she was graduated from Miss Burke's School and in 1938 was graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University. During World War II, she worked for the OPA in Washington, D.C., then as an assistant for Frank Stanton at CBS News in New York City. It was there that she met Noyes C. Dockendorff, "Docky" then a Lieutenant J.G. in the U.S. Navy. They married in 1944 and in 1950 moved to New Canaan, Ct. There in the 1970's and 1980's, Mrs. Dockendorff , known as Jan, was a realtor with Brotherhood & Higley, and, a long time supporter of the American Red Cross, serving a term as Chairman of the local chapter. In 1996, they moved to a retirement home in Concord. Mrs. Dockendorff was a member of the Chilton Club of Boston, the Gulfstream Bath and Tennis Club of Florida and the Society of the Four Hats of Palm Beach. She is survived by a son, John G. Dockendorff of Minneapolis, Mn., a daughter Janet D. Ballou and her husband Fred of Sudbury, and two grandchildren, Abigail and Caleb. A memorial will be held on September 29th in the afternoon in St. Anne's in the Fields, 147 Concord Road, Lincoln, Massachusetts.
