Ingrid Ellen Stout, a longtime resident of Concord, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Ingrid is now reunited with her beloved husband, Bob, as well as her parents Anton and Ernestine Emlinger, and her sister Oda Hoffman.
Born in Munich, Germany, on August 4, 1937, Ingrid worked as a secretary for the Bavarian government and dreamed of traveling to America. On March 10, 1960, her adventurous spirit led her across the Atlantic aboard the SS United States, arriving in New York to begin a new chapter in her life.
She worked as an au pair for a family in Weston, Massachusetts, who introduced her one evening to Robert “Bob” Stout. The two fell in love and married in May 1961, sharing 53 years together until Bob’s passing in 2014. They raised three sons and moved seven times throughout Bob’s career before settling in Concord in 1974. Ingrid became a United States citizen in 1972, embracing her adopted home while remaining deeply proud of her German and Bavarian heritage.
Ingrid loved living in Concord and going into the center to walk around, shop, get her hair and nails done. Always glamorous and impeccably put together, she had a style and presence all her own. To those who knew her, she was affectionately remembered as “that German lady.”
A natural storyteller, Ingrid loved sharing memories of Germany and the Bavarian traditions she carried throughout her life. She delighted in conversation and connecting with others. During her daily walks along Elm Street and around Nashawtuc Hill, she often stopped to chat with neighbors, taking time to catch up with those she encountered along the way.
Above all, Ingrid cherished her family. She is survived by her three sons Robert and his wife Karen, Steven and his wife Kristin, Brian and his wife Sandra, as well as eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren who were her greatest joy.
A private burial will be held with family, honoring Ingrid’s life and memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ingrid’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
