Ingrid Anderson, age 62, a lifelong Concord resident, died at home on Dec. 17 after a lengthy illness. Her early life was spent on the family farm on Virginia Road, where her pony, Lucky, was her chief companion. Ingrid always yearned to resume that idyllic way of life after she moved "into town" 35 years ago to live with an older sister and her family. Miss Anderson was perhaps the youngest person to figure as a witness in a court of law in Concord, if not the entire Commonwealth. At age three, she accompanied her mother (the late Irene Anderson, a stellar pianist as well as full partner in operating the farm with husband Carl) to a court session where three of the farm's hired men were being arraigned for disorderly conduct following a July 4th celebration. Ingrid was particularly fond of one of the men, and when he took the stand, Ingrid wrenched away from her mother, ran and clambered into the suspect's lap. That was sufficiently eloquent character testimony for the judge to dismiss all charges. Ingrid was twelve when she rescued a young nephew from certain death. The little lad wandered into the cowbarn where Annabelle viewed him a threat to her calf and headed for him, horns lowered. But Ingrid courageously grabbed a pitchfork and fended the cow off until grownups arrived. The nephew, Carl Hume, grew up to be viewed as a threat by opposing football teams and today is a member of the Concord-Carlisle Athletic Hall of Fame. In recent years Ingrid was known for her devotion to handicrafts, in particular the fashioning of macrame and pot-holders. She was also adept at assembling jig-saw puzzles by turning the pieces upside down so only the shapes, not the pictures, provided clues to the proper position. Survivors include her sisters, Jean Lord of Bolton, Pauline Oliver of Concord, and Ruth Anderson of Brighton, CO. Numerous nieces and nephews dot the landscape. Visiting hours are Monday, December 29th from 6 to 8 PM in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord. Interment will be in the family plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery during a private ceremony.
