Ida C. (Banks) McPhillips, age 92, of Concord, died Tuesday, April 26th at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Cambridge on February 14, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Ralph E. and Elizabeth (MacPhearson) Banks. A graduate of Lexington High School in 1942, she lettered in Tennis and played Softball.
For forty years, prior to her retirement, Ms. McPhillips was employed as a Telephone Operator and Manager for the New England Telephone Company in Concord.
She attended the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord and was a talented knitter. She took enjoyment and pride by knitting over one thousand hats for the military.
Survivors include her son, David A. McPhillips and his wife Julie of Pembroke, her granddaughter, Carolyn Quigley and her husband James of Pembroke, her great grandchildren, Emma and Abigail Quigley of Pembroke, and her sister, Jean Pierce of Concord. She was predeceased by her grandson, First Lieutenant Brian M. McPhillips, USMC, her sister, Margaret Miney and her brother, Ralph E. Banks, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, April 30th from 1 to 3 pm, followed by a funeral service at 3 pm in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Brown, Associate Minister of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord.
Burial will follow the service at the family burial plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
