Heidi Scholz Donaldson died on July 6, 2017 after a long battle with cancer, just two days after celebrating her 71st birthday. Heidi Donaldson is survived by her daughters, Kristin Donaldson and her husband, Andrew Sims of Carlisle Massachusetts, Stephanie Labdon and her husband Nathan of Aiken, South Carolina, and her three grandchildren, Thatcher and Ellie Sims and Alyssa Labdon. She is preceded in death by her husband James Blandino and mother, Mary Abigail Piona. Heidi was raised in Sudbury Massachusetts, eventually moving to Wayland Massachusetts to raise her family with her former husband Alan Donaldson. She later resided in Falmouth Massachusetts, Marco Island, Florida and Seymour, Tennessee before moving back to Cape Cod, specifically Barnstable where she could spend her days under the "Cape Cod blue skies" she loved. For many years, family and friends celebrated the Fourth of July because it was Heidi's birthday first, the Nation's birthday second. Everyone looked forward to the lavish parties with endless food, splashes in the pool, bands playing, children, aunts, uncles and grandparents dancing together and fireworks after dark. Heidi coordinated every detail herself, engaging with every guest moving quickly on her signature barefoot feet. She was a devoted daughter, a loving, generous mother and grandmother and a fun loving, loyal friend. Her passions ran deep, friendships long and appreciation longer. She had an immeasurable gift for making connections with people, all people from neighbors to the Stop & Shop employees. She was a lifelong "foodie", long before the phrase was coined and no one ever left her house without a full belly and a smile. Heidi's love for food was only outweighed by her love for dogs. They filled her home and life with joy and brought comfort to her on her worst days. Her wishes were for her ashes to be thrown out to sea. A celebration of her life will be planned for family and friends full of food, laughter and maybe a few fireworks.
