Hazel Alice (MacLeod) MacInnis, 93, of Silver Spring, MD and a former longtime Lincoln resident died peacefully on Wednesday, February 24th. She was the wife of the late Daniel A. MacInnis, Jr., former police and fire department chief for the Town of Lincoln.
Born in Waltham on April 1, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hester May (Massie) MacLeod.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. MacInnis worked for the Lincoln Public Schools as a Teacher's Aide, in the school's library, and in the office. She was also the Dispatcher and Police Matron at the Lincoln Police/Fire Department. Previously, she was also employed for the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company in Lincoln and Boston as well as the Waltham Watch Factory following World War II.
As a member of the First Parish in Lincoln, she taught Sunday school for several years. On a daily basis, Hazel enjoyed taking long walks on Lincoln's lovely country roads. In addition, she participated in several local activities including the July 4th parade and other patriotic events. Most of all, she loved sitting by her kitchen window to watch all of the beautiful birds in her yard.
At age 86, Hazel moved to Silver Spring, Maryland where she lived an active life by taking up the Ukulele and performing with the Ukulele Riders at Strathmore Music Center. She also volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity and earned her title as one of the top Wii bowlers for her team, regularly scoring in the 290's.
Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne J. Knorr and her husband Michael of Olney, MD, her son, Dan Fedock and his wife Santa of Bradford, MA, her stepdaughter, Elizabeth MacInnis of Virginia Beach, VA, her grandchildren, Charles Knorr of Arlington, VA, and Victoria Knorr of Bethesda, MD. She was also the sister of the late Edward MacLeod, Kenneth MacLeod and Elsie (MacLeod) Boyd.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd at 11 am in Lincoln Cemetery, Lexington Road, Lincoln.
