Gloria (Audette) O'Brien, 93, of Concord, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. She was the devoted wife of the late William G. O'Brien and the late Ashley B. Cousins, Jr. She was born in Worcester on June 5, 1924, the daughter of the late Louis E. and Mary A. (Mathieu) Audette. She attended Millbury private schools and graduated from Concord High School in 1942. In 1944, she completed her studies at Burdett School in Boston and earned an Associate degree in Secretarial Science. During World War II, Mrs. O'Brien worked for the Rationing Board in Concord and helped to organize the young women of Concord to attend dances with soldiers at Fort Devens. For eighteen years, prior to her retirement in 1981, Mrs. O'Brien was employed in Cambridge, MA as an Executive Administrator for Pfizer, Inc., previously known as Myerson Tooth Corporation out of South Bend, Indiana. She was married to William G. O'Brien in 1945 until his death in 1981. In 1985, she married her longtime friend, Ashley B. Cousins, Jr. and they made their home in Concord for seventeen years, prior to his death in 2002. Mrs. O'Brien lived the majority of her life in Concord from the time she was 16. She enjoyed traveling, cruising, dancing, and gardening. She loved the company of cats, especially black ones, and through most of her life she had a feline nearby. She is survived by her step-son, Ashley B. Cousins, III and his wife Tara of Groton, MA. She leaves behind nieces and nephews: Robb and Nancy Audette of Greely, CO, Jan and Wayne Cush of North Andover, MA, Diane and Tom Bozich of Seminole, FL, and Louis Audette of Spring Hill, FL. She was the sister of the late Robert J. Audette and friend of the late Robert M. Murphy. Dedicated and loving support was given to Gloria by Rosemary Mutonyi, her live-in health care provider for the final years of Gloria's life. She will also be missed by her goddaughter, Mary Massey of San Antonio, TX. Visiting hours for Gloria are on Sunday, June 25th from 2 to 5 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, June 26th at 11 am in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord. Arrangements are under the care of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
