Gloria J. (Del Favero) Hannan - 95, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Feb. 20 in her home with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Hannan who predeceased her in 1984. Loving mother of Ann Marie Hannan and her husband John Goodish of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Stephen Hannan and his wife Jean of Ft. Myers, FL, Carol Ann Hannan of Concord, MA ,and John Hannan and his wife Christine of State College, PA. Grandmother of Claire Hannan of Ft. Myers, FL.
Gloria was born in Queens, NY on February 28, 1921 to Silvio Del Favero and Ida (Scaglioni) Del Favero. She was an only child but had a very large, close extended family. She attended public school and secretarial school in New York City. While growing up and working in New York City,
Gloria was an avid Yankees fan, regularly attending games and even some World Series games. With her Italian heritage, she enjoyed cheering on the many Italian players such as Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Berra. She continued to root for her team even after moving to Massachusetts in 1976.
Gloria met her husband Bill at a YMCA dance. They married in 1955 and raised four children. Gloria was a devoted wife and mother. She created a warm and loving home in which good food was always in abundance. She was a perfectionist in everything she did. Gloria loved to bake and was known for her chiffon cake, apple pie, cream puffs and biscotti. She passed this love and appreciation of home-cooked food on to her children.
After her children left home, Gloria enjoyed volunteering for Emerson Hospital in the Pharmacy Department. After the death of her husband, she joined the West Concord Woman's Club. There she participated in workshops and for many years helped to plan the monthly teas and was chair of the annual scholarship fair.
Throughout her life Gloria's joyful personality and sense of humor brought smiles to the faces of everyone she met. She will be remembered as a wife, mother and a friend with an endearing smile and sparkling blue eyes even in the face of illness.
Gloria was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish in West Concord and then Holy Family Parish in Concord.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 24th at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm followed by a funeral Mass at 12:30 pm in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord.
Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord.
