Gloria was born in Queens, NY on February 28, 1921 to Silvio Del Favero and Ida (Scaglioni) Del Favero. She was an only child but had a very large, close extended family. She attended public school and secretarial school in New York City. While growing up and working in New York City, Gloria was an avid Yankees fan, regularly attending games and even some World Series games. With her Italian heritage, she enjoyed cheering on the many Italian players such as Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Berra. She continued to root for her team even after moving to Massachusetts in 1976. Gloria met her husband Bill at a YMCA dance. They married in 1955 and raised four children. Gloria was a devoted wife and mother. She created a warm and loving home in which good food was always in abundance. She was a perfectionist in everything she did. Gloria loved to bake and was known for her chiffon cake, apple pie, cream puffs and biscotti. She passed this love and appreciation of home-cooked food on to her children. After her children left home, Gloria enjoyed volunteering for Emerson Hospital in the Pharmacy Department. After the death of her husband, she joined the West Concord Woman's Club. There she participated in workshops and for many years helped to plan the monthly teas and was chair of the annual scholarship fair. Throughout her life Gloria's joyful personality and sense of humor brought smiles to the faces of everyone she met.
