Gloria V. (Johnston) Gormley, 85, of Maynard died Friday November 4, 2011 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Gormley who died in 2007. Born in Boston on December 4, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Howard and Rhoda (Lohnes) Johnston. She attended Somerville public schools and was a graduate of Howe High School in Billerica. Mrs. Gormley did secretarial work for John Hancock Insurance Co. in Boston and later was employed by the Maynard Public Schools as an Administrative Assistant from 1969 until her retirement. A Maynard resident since 1955, she enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, reading and playing Bingo. She also enjoyed knitting hats and scarves which she donated to the annual St. Bridget's Parish Fair. She was the mother of Karen Derby and her husband Richard of Maynard, Robert H. of Woonsocket, RI and Michael of Lunenburg, grandmother of Ryan Derby of Nashua, NH, Kerry Wood and her husband Jason of Dover, NH, Robert, Jason and Kyle Gormley , all of N. Smithfield, RI and great grandmother of Josie and Nate Wood. She was also the sister of the late Joyce White. Funeral will be held Monday November 7th from the Dee Funeral Home , 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER at 7:45 am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Bridget's Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard at 9 am. Interment will follow in the family burial plot in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Maynard. Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Sunday November 6th from 2 to 5 pm.
