Giovanna (Vanaria) Melisi, 100, of Concord died Monday May 13, 2013 in Marlborough. She was the beloved wife of the late Pasquale Melisi who died in 2004. Born in Waltham on January 18, 1913 she was the daughter of the late Giacomo and Caterina (Rando) Vanaria. She attended Waltham public schools . A Concord resident for over seventy years, she was a talented seamstress, gourmet cook and avid gardener. She was a member of the West Concord Women's Club, the former Catholic Daughters of America, Our Lady's Court #1116, and was an active devoted parishioner of the former Our Lady Help of Christians Parish in West Concord. Mrs. Melisi was devoted to her husband, and to her very large extended family. She was the sister of the late Joseph, Basile and Salvatore Vanaria, Josephine Taranto, Christina Vanaria, Mary Zeolla, Angelina Lando and Eleanor Arsenault. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, great, great, grand nieces and nephews and great, great, great, grand nieces and nephews. Cemetery: Interment will follow in the family burial plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord. Visitation: Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 15th from 4 to 7 pm. Service: Funeral will be held Thursday May 16th from the Dee Funeral Home 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 9:30 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 10:30 am.
