In 1970 with the encouragement of Dr. Louis Lowy she came to America and attended Boston University, studying and specializing in a model being developed for group work. In 1973 Gertraud married her husband Gerald at Boston University Chapel. For many years, Mrs. Hurley worked in private practice as a Clinical Social Worker in the Lowell, Cambridge and Boston areas. A forty-year resident of Concord, she enjoyed gardening and was a long-standing member of the American Association of University Women, where she was most active in the book club.
