Gerald Francis "Gerry" Lafferty, 80, of Concord, formerly of Sandwich, Leominster and Lowell died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was the beloved husband for 55 years of the late Mary Lee (Gallagher) Lafferty. Born in Lowell on December 15, 1932 he was the son of the late Charles J. and Veracunda M. (Shepard) Lafferty. He attended Lowell schools, graduated from Keith Academy and Lowell Technical College where he studied engineering. During the Korean Conflict, he served as a Corporal in the Army of the United States. He retired in 1986 after many years as President of Highline Products Company in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Previously he founded two firms, Nylon Engineering in Lowell and the Synthetic Materials Corporation in Leominster. He also was employed as a plastics engineer for Foster Grant Corporation. He retired to Cape Cod and was a member of the Hyannis Yacht Club. Following his wife's death in February of 2012, he moved to Concord. He enjoyed photography, politics, traveling, was an avid reader of historical books, and was an avid golfer and member of the Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg. Survivors include his five children; Kelley Lafferty of Brooklyn, NY, Nancy Wellott of Marlborough, MA, Kerry Jordan of Riverside, IL, Shelagh Moskow of Concord, MA, Shannon Simons and her husband Timothy of Westport, CT, eleven grandchildren; Madison, Olivia, Cole, Hannah, Michael, Griffin, Samantha, Michaela, Katie, Jack and Trey, two sisters; Sr. Mary Lou Lafferty of NY and Charlene Muscato of Tyngsboro, MA, one brother; Robert Lafferty of Lowell, MA, many nieces, nephews, and brother and sister-in-laws. He was also the father of the late Michael P. Lafferty. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday January 5th in recognition of Mr. Lafferty's service to his country during the Korean Conflict. Service: Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5th at 12 noon in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
