Obituary

Georgia (Clahane) Rich, 83, a longtime Littleton, MA resident, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Nashoba Valley Hospital in Ayer, MA. Born in Manchester, NH on January 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George and Eulah N. (Musso) Clahane. Her early years were spent in Concord, MA. She then attended Lincoln, MA public schools, graduated from Acton, MA high school in 1953 and received a Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston in 1957. A talented artist, Georgia was known for her charcoal drawings of children, silk screen, linoleum and wood block prints, She was an accomplished chair seat weaver, using cane, splint and bamboo materials, and was skilled at antique furniture refinishing. She also enjoyed creating fiber and textile art and designing carved birds from old wooden shingles. During the 1950s, Georgia was employed as a bookkeeper and worked in the customer service department at The Paint Pot in Concord where she was involved with painting and lettering signs and selling wallpaper and fabrics. In the late 60s and 70s she and her family lived in New Mexico, where she immersed herself into the surrounding art community and worked on varied projects from hand-finishing of clay models for lost-wax bronze sculptures, sign lettering, paint matching, gilded frame restoration, and custom matting and framing. She was later employed at Digital Marine Corporation in Acton where she worked as a display panel silk screener. Survivors include three children, Robin Rich Accomazzo of Pepperell, MA, Judy Rich of Dallas, TX and David Scott Rich of Pepperell, MA; three treasured grandchildren, Ryan Mauro Accomazzo, Jolina Mai Rich and Scott Alan Rich; and one brother, Peter Edward Clahane of Tunnel Hill, GA.
